The initial introduction to the crew of the Millennium Falcon happens in an off screen encounter between Ben Kenobi and Chewbacca. Since we last saw Chewbacca waving goodbye to Yoda on Kashyyyk (and since we know that Yoda had good relations with the Wookiees), we are left to wonder whether Ben Kenobi might have met Chewbacca before, or whether they were aware of each other via Yoda. It's an intriguing mystery as to whether this might be the reason why Ben chooses the Millennium Falcon to get them out of Mos Eisley and to Alderaan.
The alliance between the Republic and the Wookiees must certainly have influenced the decision and Kenobi must at least have a decent understanding of the Wookiee language for his conversation with Chewbacca to go anywhere (there's no C-3PO around to translate on this occasion). The plot of Episode III certainly affects how we interpret A New Hope and raises a lot of questions. Chewbacca almost certainly hasn't confided in Han Solo about his knowledge of the Jedi or the Force which means he has been loyal to Yoda ever since the Empire started hunting the last of the Jedi. He is indeed a loyal furry friend and this has probably done nothing to undermine Han's scepticism about the Force. Chewbacca is Han's best friend, but he has done nothing to convince him that the Force is anything more than a superstition even though he knew the Jedi and knows better.
Anyway, Ben must at least know that as a Wookiee, Chewbacca is a safe bet and no friend to the Empire since his species was betrayed and almost wiped out by them at the end of The Revenge of the Sith.
All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
