30th Anniversary Collection Star Wars Action Figures...

With the Star Wars 30th Anniversary Collection action figures Hasbro just about reaches the pinnacle of its craft and artisanship, with the mould, paint application and articulation of just about every single figure being done to an impressive standard, and with fewer wrong turns than are evident in previous action figure series.

For me the 30th Anniversary Collection represents in many ways the start of a new golden age in the manufacture and production of Star Wars action figures. With this collection we get a combination of superior articulation, moulding and paintwork combined with a palpable passion for the Star Wars phenomenon and its nostalgia which all come together to create perhaps the best single collection of Star Wars action figures ever. There is a consistent magic inherent across the range of the 30th Anniversary Collection action figures of which you only get the odd instance in other collections and series. This for me is Hasbro at its absolute pinnacle.

The golden age persists through the earlier Legacy Collection, The Black Series and most noticeably the Vintage Collection. By 2012 the the Movie Heroes Series and the later 2015 Legacy Collection we are well into a decline which culminates perhaps with the Saga Legends Series and Saga Legends Mission Series of 2013-14 in which knee and elbow articulation seemed to have become a thing of the past. This however, should come as no susprise to us since this is exactly what had happened with the Power of the Force range in the mid 1990s when we were inbetween trilogies. Only when we got that bit closer to the release of The Phantom Menace did the Power of the Force range start to find its voice with the anticipation of the next Star Wars trilogy spurring them on (or at least, so I suspect). In turn, the 30th Anniversary Collection represents a fervent passion for the Star Wars world which was burning bright in the aftermath of The Revenge of the Sith but which seems to have started to lull at some indeterminate mid-point between the Prequel and Sequel Trilogies. Unfortunately, with the advent of the third trilogy the uncompromising passion for Star Wars figure production does not seem to have returned to Hasbro with anything like that seen in the wonderful 30th Anniversary Collection.

30th Anniversary Collection Accessories...

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
