Biggs Darklighter Figure (A New Hope Deleted Scene) – 30th Anniversary Collection, 2007 Action Figure Star Wars...

Biggs Darklighter (A New Hope Deleted Scene) Action Figure: Overview

Biggs Darklighter Figure with Collectors coin

I was initially surprised that this 30th Anniversary Collection Biggs Darklighter action figure came with what looked suspiciously like Darth Vader's cloak. On closer inspection however Biggs Darklighter is indeed wearing a long black cloak in the deleted scene from A New Hope. If this had been kept then the whole symbolism of Vader's cloak would have gone slightly awry as the imagery of the black cloak really needs to be unique to Vader for him to stand out in the way that he does. Moreover, the blackness of Vader's cloak serves as a very stark contrast to the whiteness of Princess Leia's robes.

The stark visual contrast between good and evil would have been compromised if Biggs had been left in the movie wandering around Tatooine in a black cloak, especially with a surname like Darklighter which would only have detracted further from Vader's unique darkness and role as the dark father. As such it was probably a wise move to cut the Tosche Station scene from A New Hope.

The quality of this 30th Anniversary Biggs Darklighter action figure is excellent and the facial likeness is very good. The blue of Bigg's teeshirt under his jacket has a distinctly 1970s feel to it, albeit it is darker than the rather distinctive blue of the vintage Hammerhead vest. It's a shame that this Biggs figure came without any knee articulation.

Other 30th Anniversary Collection Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
