The Power of the Force Tauntaun is very similar to the Saga Series Tauntaun from the Hoth 4-pack. However the Power of the Force Tauntaun doesn't have a split belly and also it has a broken left horn.

The Tauntaun is quite beautifully detailed and the neck articulation is very expressive. The dusting of snow on his haunches, feet, arms and saddle is nicely executed. This is a vast improvement over the vintage Kenner Tauntaun, and the reins are less prone to breaking and since the saddle has been moulded on it doesn't suffer from the issue of splitting which the Kenner saddle had.

The mould of this Tauntaun is so good, it wasn't just recycled for the Saga Series Hoth 4-pack. It also appears in the 30th Anniversary Collection Hoth Patrol Battle Pack which came with a Saga Series Wampa and Luke Skywalker. The only peice I'm missing from this is the lump of meat that the Wampa chews on.

The Tauntaun works well with a number of riders including the Saga Series Hoth Luke Skywalker, The Legacy Collection Hoth Han Solo and the Saga Series Hoth Han Solo. I don’t have the Luke which actually came with the Tauntaun in the Power of the Force release of the creature.

Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
