Luke Skywalker's T-16 Skyhopper - Power of the Force Overview

T-16 Skyhopper Power of the Force

The T-16 Skyhopper is the infamous craft in which Luke boasts that he used bullseye womp rats from prior to the assault on the Death Star in A New Hope. We never actually saw one of these vehicles in the movie with the exception of the model which Luke toys with briefly in the garage at the Lars Homestead.

The Power of the Force rendition of the Skyhopper is a good likeness but it does have its faults. The way the wings clip together can be incredibly annoying and the clips do have a habit of snapping off. Once put together with the top fin the T-16 is actually a surprisingly big one man craft. With the wings folded up it is faintly reminiscent of an Imperial Shuttle. The cockpit slides out from the back to create a smaller stunt ship. Unfortunately, the whole process of taking the T-16 apart and putting it back together again is just rather fiddly and annoying.

The Power of the Force T-16 Space Hopper is much larger than you might expect for a one-man ship and much bigger, for instance, than any mini-rig. In fact, the height of the central sail gives the T-16 proportions that you might more normally associate with an Imperial Shuttle. One might imagine that because of its width and height that this would be a very awkward vessell to fly through a canyon unless Beggar's Canyon is particularly wide.

The Luke Skywalker with the hat in the photo is the Luke Skywalker (Escape From Mos Eisley - Saga Collection, 2006). The Tatooine rifle I haven't identified. The Wamp Rat in the photo is from the Legacy Collection Lars Homestead playset.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
