Y-Wing Fighter - Power of the Force Overview

Y-Wing Fighter with missile and instructions

The Power of the Force Y-Wing Fighter vehicle is a really well rendered Rebel fighter with no obvious design flaws. There's been no attempt to mess with the original vintage design too much and it has a very old school Star Wars feel to it. The engine struts, top gun and missile accessory are all in-line with the first Y-Wing Fighter vehicle released and take me back to earlier Star Wars play experiences with the vintage Kenner model.

This Power of the Force Y-Wing Fighter has a nice Red R2 unit with a swivel head, but the droid unfortunately isn't removable. There is fairly subtle battle damage and the missile that comes with it is highly reminiscent of the vintage original Y-Wing.

Like the 1983 the version the Power of the Force Y-Wing Fighter has Gold Squadron colours. One slight flaw is that the Y-Wing's landing gear has a tendency not to fix in position.

Having rummaged through my Rebel pilots I can confirm that I don't own the 'unique' Y-Wing Pilot which came with the ship. I can however confirm (from having consulted Jedi Business), that he's a pretty ugly Power of the Force figure. He looks pretty much like what Walrus Man might have looked like had he had cosmetic surgery to make him look human (see http://jedibusiness.com/figureDetails.aspx?id=1238).

On the whole I am very pleased to have a complete POTF Y-Wing Fighter as completing Y-Wings out of spares is quite a task. I'm presently working on completing both a Kenner Y-Wing and a 30th Anniversary Collection Y-Wing Fighter vehicle and its a case of adding spare parts to the carcasses as and when they turn up in job lots. It's going to take forever unless I resort to paying retail prices for them and even then in order to get hold of all the Y-Wing engine struts that I need I might have to.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
