The Vintage Collection Royal Guard is an absolutely beautifully designed action figure with fabulously steampunk reds and maroons for the Naboo Royal Guard's trousers and tunic.

The helmet is removable but you might have a little bit of bother getting the chin strap over his nose. He can hold his helmet by the strap very convincingly with his right hand. The blaster is rather a tight and cumbersome fit for the Naboo Royal Guard's holster, but aside from this it's really hard to fault the action figure at all.

Unfortunately for the Vintage Collection Naboo Royal Guard action figure he often ends up being displayed with Episode One Collection figures to which he is far superior and this is detrimental to just how effective he can look in dioramas. That said, there wasn't much in the way of Naboo action figures released between the rather basic Episode One Collection and the Vintage Collection. Only with the Vintage collection did we start to get some really fabulous action figures for our Naboo scenes (and Episode One scenes overall for that matter), including a beautifully sculpted and articulated Jar Jar Binks and a superb Naboo Pilot and the game was also upp-ed for Mos Espa pod race characters as well with a lovely Mawhonic figure, Ratts Tyrell and Ben Quadinaros. Other great new Phantom Menace figures with the Vintage Collection included much improved Darth Maul and Darth Sidious figures as well as a fabulous Qui-Gon Jinn. The Vintage Collection really addressed the scarcity of quality figures for The Phantom Menace which had existed up until that point.

Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.
