Jabba the Hutt (and Han Solo) Overview

This is quite a basic looking Power of the Force Jabba The Hutt action figure which bears some similarities to its Kenner forbear, including the tail articulation. That said, the depth to Jabba's eyes is very impressive.

Find Jabba the Hutt (and Han Solo) on eBay

Jabba's body is very green, so different to the familiar yellow of the Kenner Jabba the Hutt, but this matches the CGI for him in A New Hope. The action figure is also forward facing rather than side facing so that he can slither along whilst in conversation with Han.

Like many Power of the Force action figures it fills in a gap allowing you to recreate a movie moment which had not previously been possible. In this case it's the reinserted deleted scene of Han Solo's confrontation with Jabba the Hutt in the Mos Eisley space port. The one thing I would have added in order to get the most out of this would have been either a footprint indentation on his back or a nub for a figure stand to enable Han to be positioned climbing over Jabba as he does in the movie. I've had to use the 1999 Power of the Force Han Solo rather than the one that originally packed with this Jabba the Hutt. This 1999 Han Solo has knee articulation which means that you can position him climbing over Jabba's back.

This Power of the Force Jabba the Hutt also calls to attention a slight issue with the movie scene which is one of scale. Once you position a Han Solo climbing over him, you realise that the only way Han could ever step over Jabba the Hutt is if he took a running jump first.

I've used the 30th Anniversary Collection Pax Bonkik as one of the background figures for the photos because he's such an impressive looking Rodian and really deserves a more exciting role in life than that of a mechanic which he was given in The Phantom Menace.

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
