Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) Action Figure: Overview

Dexter Jettster figure with knives

The Saga Series Dexter Jettster action figure is beautifully detailed and so accurate to the character in The Attack of the Clones it's quite uncanny. I have both of his chef's knives and the Kamino dart but I don't have the electro effect meant to wrap around the larger knife.

One discrepancy is that the Dexter Jettster (Coruscant Informant) action figure doesn't have the rips in the front of his teeshirt that he has in the film, but he does have a blue and white striped dish cloth hanging out of the back of his pants which is rather a nice touch.

Dexter Jettster with Kamino Dart

The Kamino dart is an incredibly rare accessory. I picked up five loose Saga Series Dexter Jettster action figures before I got my hands on one of these.

The dart itself raises an interesting question about The Attack of the Clones which is that of why, when Jango Fett carries a whole host of Mandalorian weaponry, would he use a Kamino dart that could so predictably lead the Jedi to him where he is residing on Kamino?

I suppose the answer is that somehow this had to have been part of Palpatine's plan. In order to lead the Jedi to Geonosis, make them aware of the Clone Army and then putting them in a position where they were forced to use it Jango Fett had to leave them a trail of bread crumbs back to Kamino for the plan to work.

If this hypothosised instruction to eliminate Zam Wesell with this clue had indeed come from Palpatine through Dooku, then this suggests a whole new explanation as to why Jango Fett is so eager to leave Kamino when visited by Obi-Wan Kenobi. In this interpretation, the next stage of his mission would have been to put up a convincing fight whilst surreptitiously leading the Jedi Knight to Kamino where the Jedi Order can be given a reason to mobilise the Clone Army (of which they have only just learnt of their ownership). Palpatine needs the two sides fighting against each other in order to be able to effectively manipulate them both and this Kamino dart provides him with the tool which helps bring this about.

See my article on What Jango Fett Knows in The Attack of the Clones here.

Update: I finally picked up the blue lightning which fits about Jettster's vibro-meat cleaver in a job lot. Photo added below:

Note: We see a prototype for Dexter's Diner and Dexter himself at the opening of the Star Wars Droids episode The Lost Prince (1.5) in which C-3PO and R2-D2 get themselves jobs working for a four-armed Diner owner with rips in his shirt who is remarkably reminiscent of Dexter Jettster. Even the layout of the diner looks pretty much the same as the one that Obi-Wan Kenobi enters in The Attack of the Clones. The Diner owner from the cartoon though is much less friendly than the lovable Dex. The voice and intonation of this Diner owner character is even pretty reminiscent of Dexter Jettster. Listen for instance to him say 'Give him any trouble and I'll melt ya down' at one minute sixteen seconds and he sounds remarkable like Dex explaining to Obi-Wan about Kamino darts (see Youtube here.)

Other Saga Series Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
