Captain Antilles (Senate Security) Action Figure: Overview

Captain Antilles Figure Revenge of the Sith Collection front

I'm not too sure why this Captain Antilles figure is given the title of 'Senate Security' on the card back. His role in The Revenge of the Sith is primarily one of establishing continuity between this film and A New Hope by placing him as the Captain on Tantive IV who takes on the two droids. We never see Antilles anywhere near the Senate or near Coruscant for that matter.

This younger Captain Antilles figure looks like he's wearing Goth boots which are a world away from the shiny brown riding boots we see on the brilliant Saga Series Captain Antilles Fan's Choice action figure from A New Hope.

Captain Antille's hair also seems to change from black to ginger over this time period which is quite astonishing.

It is notable that in the intervening 20 or so years between The Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope Captain Antilles seems not to have attained any sort of promotion. This is quite notable since so many Star Wars characters attain sudden promotions to the rank of general. This is a list which includes Obi-Wan Kenobi (The Revenge of the Sith), Han Solo, Lando Calrissian and Luke Skywalker (The Return of the Jedi) and even Jar Jar Binks (The Phantom Menace). One has to wonder whether or not Captain Raymus Antilles is seriously inept having not moved up the ranks in all this time. After all, after the long chase to get the Death Star plans away from the Empire which starts in Rogue One, his ship is where the Empire finally almost catches up with the plans. In fact, as the captain of an Alderaan blockade runner in The Revenge of the Sith you have to wonder why Captain Antilles hasn't made the rank of admiral by the time of A New Hope especially when you remember the sudden promotion of Captain Piett to admiral in The Empire Strikes Back. Antilles looks to have been left behind. Perhaps the Rebel Alliance is not an equal opportunities employer as it does seem to prefer Mon Calimari when it comes to high ranking officers in the Rebel Fleet (e.g. Admiral Akbar and Admiral Raduss).

At the end of The Revenge of the Sith Captain Antilles is given the task of taking care of R2-D2 and C-3PO and at the start of A New Hope C-3PO tells Luke Skywalker that 'our last master was Captain Antilles'. This would suggest that the droids have been under Antilles's care for the intervening twenty years or so between the movies. The Droids cartoon (albeit not being canonical) subverts this assumption considerably as this animated series shows the two droids on a continual quest for a new master in the intervening years and encountering a few new ones along the way. If we accept the Droids plot then perhaps Captain Antilles didn't get his promotion because he managed to lose the droids for a considerable time.

Other Revenge of the Sith Collection Action Figures

All Star Wars action figures, vehicles, collectibles and Star Wars toys shown on this website are the 3.75 inch scale and from my own private Star Wars collection unless otherwise stated. Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. This is mostly the case for modern Star Wars lightsabers where the correct item can be very difficult to identify on some ocassions. Vintage Star Wars action figures are shown with their original weapon or accessory when I have them. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
