Find General Grievous (Demise of Grievous) action figure on eBay

If Hasbro hadn't come up with this General Grievous (Exploding Body) action figure you can almost guarantee that many kids would not have been able to resist the temptation to take one of their other General Grievous action figures and brutally dissect them in order to recreate this scene.

This Revenge of the Sith Collection Exploding Body Grievous is the only General Grievous figure with a wrap-around plastic cloak (none of the other versions have the cloak coming around the front of Grievous's body).

The legs, arms and head come off the General Grievous figure quite easily. Separating the torso can be quite tricky though, as can re-assembling the whole figure. For the photos I used one General Grievous who was already whole and another who was already dis-assembled in order to save time.

One quirk with this General Grievous (Exploding Body) figure is that it comes with a green plastic blob which is supposed to be General Grievous's guts. Since we see him fried from the inside in The Revenge of the Sith it’ll take a little bit of imagination to get some play value out of this feature. Much better is the Saga Collection Demise of General Grievous figure which captures the moment when Obi-Wan Kenobi's blaster fire makes contact with Grievous's innards, right down to his eyes exploding out of their sockets in balls of flame.

When General Grievous's death was scripted you have to wonder whether Lucas had grievous bodily harm on his mind, since this is literally what happens to the unfortunate Separatist leader.

Where possible original vintage accessories have been used but in some instances I have placed Kenner Star Wars figures with either reproduction weapons and accessories or for Hasbro figures close approximations have been used. When a vintage Kenner action figure is shown with an accessory which is not original I have tried to point this out where possible.

All of the Star Wars action figures shown were purchased second hand, usually incomplete, and in bulk. They have been reunited with their original weapons and accessories where we could get hold of them.
